About The CSA

The CSA/CMEC is run by the Governments Department of Work And Pensions and, when they contact you they say they are ringing from the DWP, in fact they should say they are from the CSA. The CSA were given increased powers when Labour came into power to as Tony Blair’s exact words were “we will make absent fathers pay” and my word have they done exactly that. Due to the few absent fathers who decided to run away from their responsibilities the rest of the fathers who through divorce or separation from their partners have fallen foul of the tough new laws that were given to the CSA.

CSA abuse their powers

   The CSA have and are still to this day abusing the powers given to them in order to collect child maintenance, and what makes it worse is that it hides behind the protection of the Government so anybody who has a complaint or wishes to lodge an appeal has to wait a lengthy time for the CSA to look through the complaint or appeal. There are other organisations who can help such as The Independent Case Examiner (ICE), Child Support Guidance and NACSA (National Association for Child Support Action) however whilst these organisations put you in the right direction or take on your case, the CSA continue to take the money from the NRP, and if the CSA are found to have made mistakes or taken too much money from the NRP the most compensation you are likely to receive from them would be about £50, hardly a substitute for the life ruining mistakes the they make.

  For those of you who try to contact the CSA and explain that you don’t have any money left to live on then the CSA’s answer to that is “default on your Mortgage” Child support is priority according to them. The CSA are also abusing powers by enforcing Deduction of Earnings Orders (DEO) to NRPs who are pay as you earn and imposing this as a first resort rather than the last, yet again another. The CSA are also misinforming NRPs that arrears have to be paid back within two years, again this is just a CSA guideline and not law so do not fall into the trap of believing that arrears have to be paid back in that time, it should be paid back within a reasonable time.

 The CSA will also put you down as being Correspondence Only if an NRP rings up and informs the CSA where they have made mistakes and quotes the laws where they have gone wrong, then when the NRP does contact the CSA in writing they do not respond.
